The Struggle is Real!
This past weekend was an incredible opportunity and experience getting to help represent Southern at the 2014 Southeast ASCE Student Conference in Tampa, Florida. There was so much going on and I’m glad that I got to help my school and learn from all of the universities there. There’s a lot that I took away from the other universities that I feel can help build upon the work done by my peers and myself, and I am excited to test some things out starting in August to prepare for next year’s conference! I’m also proud to say that one of the competitions, Concrete Shuffleboard, that I helped work on placed 2nd at the conference! This is the first time that Georgia Southern has placed in any of the competitions at the Student Conferences and it was an honor to be a small part of the team that achieved this accomplishment.
Coming right back to school after the conference was an adjustment after the event filled weekend and I haven’t fallen asleep a single night this week on purpose, with my book bag packed for the next day, or my alarm set for in the morning. It’s been a busy week.
Which brings me to BLINDS. I feel like it’s not just me and my roommates, but the actual apartments we are living in using the WEIRDEST material in the walls. It feels like cardboard under an area in one of the window sills that part of the wall just fell off the top on its own, yet it’s not letting us drill a screw through it. I just don’t understand.
As an extra what the fuck bonus, the apartments we’re living in were trying to charge us $40 for new blinds in the laundry room because we “damaged” them. Those blinds looked exactly the same as the day that we moved in. If we split the amount between us it would be $8 each, but these are some of the cheapest blinds I’ve seen! They told us if we wanted to fix it ourselves we could. So we bought blinds for half the price, but now there are all of these difficulties installing them. I just don’t understand, and they’re saying they’re going to charge $50 to each of us if they’re not up soon enough.
I DON’T CARE WHO YOU ARE, YOU DON’T NEED $200 FOR BLINDS IN ONE ROOM!!!!
